Interesting idea. -- Siphon I'm not sure that I understand the site, however. If the pumping supply reservoir is 2 meters below the river, how can one siphon up to the river? It doesn't sound like its possible to put

A siphon needs to have the discharge well below the intake. If the entire course of the river is above the pumping reservoir that is not possible. One thing I do know, water won't flow up hill on its own accord. I don't know much about Ram pumps but I know that they do "consume" a certain amount of water to push a small amount uphill. Perhaps someone could tell us this ratio. In this case that spillage would flow back into the low spot that we are trying to drain. Inherently inefficient. Perhaps, though, with enough good sized systems in parallel, this could be done. Maybe I'm missing something about the siphon.
