I am really glad that I came across this forum.
My friends and I have some property in Arkansas and we wish to develop our
spring into a microhydro system.
I am not the group's technical expert on this but I seem to be the one that is
pushing the project.
We already have the inverter and the batteries lined up. We are looking for the
most efficient turbine and generator for this project.
I am grateful for whatever guidance you can give me. Including prices,
manufacturers, links etc....
Here is the data.
Our spring puts out about 400 -500 gpm or 32 liters/sec
We have twelve feet of head from the spring to where we need to set the turbine
and six of height from the turbine to the creek.
We are planning on building a "draft tube" (like I saw on a couple of
websites)from the turbine to the creek to create additional head.
So, I estimate 18' feet of head. 17,5' effective head or 5.3 meters.
This project seems to fall into a hole that most of the manufacturers cannot
help without severely comprimising efficiency.
