Hello all, My research into using boat propellers as runners in a turbine has led me to look into vertical propeller pumps. The runner of a pump appears to be the right shape and spins at motor/generator speeds. I understand that centrifugal pumps have been run in reverse as turbines, but has anyone heard about vertical propeller pumps run in reverse?
My situation has large flow and low head (.13 cubic meters/sec, 5 meter head) and seems to favor this type of machine. It would certainly be a lot easier to use an engineered unit rather than hobbing something together. I have uploaded photos of a vertical pump to the folder named "vertical pump". Thanks in advance for any advice. Martin ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Get fast access to your favorite Yahoo! Groups.
