Dear Andy,
I live in Massachusetts and I restore hydropower plants for a
living. If the old equipment is in the powerhouse it is worth
restoring it. I have 12 turbines that are running now that I restored
from rusty hunks of junk to running machines, for little cost. It is
deffinitly worht restoring the old equipment and the old equipment when
restored ids just as effiecent as new equipment. On your question of
how much power the site will make, you need to know how many square
miles of drainage area your stream has. If you tell me that or the
site location ( I have an electronic set of USGS maps so finding out
the drainage area of a site only takes a minute)I will graph out a flow
duration curve and tell you how much power you will make. If you need
any advice or help please feel free to ask. Hydropower is my job but
also my hobby and I would love to see someone start a site back up. I
have a website www.frenchriverland.com that shows what me and my sister
do for a living.

Good Luck,
Will Fay
