Create database schema and all indexes. Database installation, population of database with data from flat files or other data sources. Write Unix shell scripts/PL-SQL scripts to extract and load data. Data normalization. Experience in working with large databases (20+ million records). Ability to develop data specs, develop architecture diagrams and develop code.

The Strategic Technologies Database Analyst/Designer - Advanced works for the KP-IT Organization. Responsibilities of the Strategic Technologies Data Analyst/Designer - Advanced include: Development and Leadership: Develops high-level database architectures and ensures that database designs are consistent with information architecture and information management and industry standards. Leads internal/external resources in second level severity problem resolutions during the projects Development and Introduction phases. Oversight: Oversees the integration of data transformation in the overall architecture. Gathering, Analyzing and Identifying: Identifies, recommends and develops if necessary, new methodologies for supporting information management strategic technologies requirements as it relates to data management. Analyzes systems configuration and components, data models, data dictionary, inbound and outbound interfaces, data profiling and quality, etc. This will involve working with many service teams (i.e. Data management ETL design and construct, DBA, Data Modeling, Applications Delivery etc) to determine best design taking into account cost, timeframe, quality, resource constraints, maintenance, ease of use etc. Evaluates and selects tools in conjunction with project team. Creation and Distribution for Review: Ensures consistency of recommendations with enterprise direction. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective systems solutions. Providing Recommendations: Recommends strategies for the development of data definitions and meta-data structures for information repository and the performance of model management activities ensuring proper alignment with organizational goals and industry directions. Recommends and evaluates data management and support tools that fit with enterprise architecture and internal product standards. Recommends changes to data architecture to accommodate tools as needed. Suggest database minimum performance criteria and thresholds. Suggests elements of database redesign to resolve problems as needed. Review and Approval: Reviews high-level information architecture and ensures that the high-level information strategic technologies requirements are met through successful completion of tactical/strategic projects. Approves database design changes to accommodate system performance and multi vendor integration needs. Requirements: Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field required, or equivalent Bachelors degree and work experience in lieu of Masters Degree. 7+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare sector that deals with complex health plan and care delivery data. 5+ years design and programming in one or more of the following database languages: Oracle, MS SQL, DB2, 5+ years of related analytical consulting experience, healthcare experience preferred. Must Requirements: Strong analytic and critical thinking skills, writing skills, communication skills, consulting skills, and ability to work within a team. Ability to provide highly sophisticated consulting and assessment services on behalf of the client needs. Microsoft Office skills required. Highly Desired Requirements: Strong ability to apply analytic and critical thinking skills, writing skills, communication skills, consulting skills, and ability to work within a team. Experience working in a very large, complex data management organization and can work well under pressure. Good working knowledge of Windows and UNIX (AIX, Solaris) operating systems and UNIX scripting tools.
