Please let me know if you have anyone. *UNIX Systems Administrator (HP-UX, Solaris Cisco, Java) * *Details for the contract position are as follows: * *6 Month+ Contract to Start Location is Lexington, MA Start Date: ASAP* *PURPOSE AND SCOPE:* Supports Clients mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements. Senior UNIX Administrator will be responsible for supporting UNIX servers and SAN Storage on the UNIX Technology Team. Duties include the installation, tuning and maintenance of the UNIX Operating Systems, third-party software, server hardware and related peripherals. Responsibilities will be to perform system security, backup and recovery in these environments. Work closely with the rest of the team and application development teams to troubleshoot and optimize Java-based environments on the UNIX platform under the general supervision of the Manager- UNIX Technologies. *DUTIES / ACTIVITIES: * *CUSTOMER SERVICE*: · Responsible for driving the client's culture through values and customer service standards. · Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers. · Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication. · Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner. *PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:* · General Responsibilities: o Install, maintain and tune UNIX Operating System and associated middleware applications. o Responsible for provisioning new UNIX infrastructure and SAN Storage. o Responsible for UNIX, SAN and Oracle patch maintenance/ upgrades. o Optimizes disk storage and manages disk space allocation. o Provides performance analysis of SAP and Java based infrastructure on UNIX platform including capacity planning to maintain application stability. o Analyzes performance data and makes recommendations to management. · Project & Development Support: o Participates in project meetings acting as a resource regarding technical tasks on projects. o Responsibilities include project planning on technical tasks, the development and testing of system components, documentation preparation and review, system implementation activities, participation in project and team meetings, and product implementations within UNIX technologies. · Production Support and Maintenance: o Provides support for application development team for debugging and troubleshooting. o Works closely with the rest of the team and application development teams to troubleshoot and optimize the environment. o Communicates with development teams when changes occur. · Other duties as assigned. *PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS*: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. A degree in Computer Science or MIS a plus. · MIS or Computer Science course work at the graduate level a plus · Certification on either HP-UX or Solaris highly desirable. *EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: * · At least six years of technical experience, of which at least three years should be as a UNIX Systems Administrator role. · Experience with HP-UX 11i or Solaris 10 required. · Experience with HP XP or Hitachi Storage and CISCO SAN infrastructure is strongly recommended. · Knowledge of UNIX internals. · In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Storage Systems and some experience with Java Technologies. · Experience with CA Autosys is a plus. · Requires very strong troubleshooting skills · Requires very good knowledge of TCP/IP and DNS · Working experience in large scale UNIX and Middleware environment. · Must have good verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to effectively interface with internal IT and User personnel. · Requires good documentation skills to meet compliance requirements. · Candidate must be well versed in UNIX security, system performance, troubleshooting, clustering, and fluent in shell scripting. Position interacts with users to recommend purchases of hardware/ software, and coordinates installation with vendors and/or technicians. *RELATIONSHIPS:* Internal Contacts: UNIX Team Infrastructure Teams, DBA Team, and Application Development Teams.
