The position is open strictly due to lack of bandwidth on the team. The team is made up of 3 groups: 1) Development 2) Technical Support 3) Data Warehouse This person will fall under the Development team and will largely be in a position with little direction. Project: Most of our client’s applications are proprietary the team has built as opposed to purchasing from a vendor. One such application collects data on all staff members. This contractor will be responsible for re-writing this application in VB.NET. Currently this application is written in classic ASP and utilizes SQL Server. The main technical skills the candidate will need are: * VB.NET * SQL Server * Must be able to read classic ASP code so they can re-write in .NET ****Must have worked extensively in Data Collection environment. Those with Transaction Processes or Order Entry experience will not be a fit.** *Client will select candidates based on 3 main objectives: 1) Must meet the technical skills- He expects someone to have an absolute minimum of 6 years of solid .NET experience with very few gaps in employment. 2) Similar Projects- Must be someone who worked in a Data Collection environment… NOT in Transaction Processes or Order Entry. 3) Education Background- Ideally with a state agency. The right candidate will know the ins-and outs of the Education industry. The right candidate will be able to work independently and manage a project from start to finish. They will be responsible for: * Managing the project with little supervision. * Write code. * Test code. * Send for user acceptance. * Have very open and strong communication with users - must be no surprises (glitches, problems, etc) with the end product. * Must be a self-starter. * Must be able to reach out for help from people they may have only met once briefly. * There will be no formal check-ins or timeline checks.
