Microsoft Again Postpones Delivery of
Windows .NET Servers by Timothy Prickett
Morgan
Microsoft
quietly this week pushed out the expected delivery date for
its next generation of server operating systems by several
months, or possibly longer. It seems very likely that the
delays in bringing Windows .NET Server, the kicker to the
current Windows 2000 products, has to do with beefing up
security and making sure the .NET Framework it includes does
not increase the exposure companies may face in moving ahead.

JVM, based on the JRockit technology BEA acquired from Appeal
Virtual Machines AB, will improve performance of BEA's
WebLogic Enterprise P latform on 32-bit and 64-bit Intel
Architecture-compatible operating systems.

BEA Announces "Cajun" Competitor To
Visual Basic by Kristin Palitza
BEA Systems has
released a new Java-based programming tool that stands in
direct competition with Visual Basic, Microsoft's drag-and-drop
pre-built software coding product. With BEA's tool--called
Weblogic Workshop and known under the code-name "Cajun" as it
was being developed--application and enterprise developers can
share the same code base and therefore increase development
productivity across IT organizations.
