Capellas Leaves HP for Other 'Career Opportunities'
by Alex Woodie

Michael Capellas, the former chief executive of Compaq who became president of Hewlett-Packard when the two companies merged earlier this year, has resigned from HP to pursue "other career opportunities," HP announced on Monday. As president, Capellas was in charge of the day-to-day operations of HP, and his departure is undeniably a blow to the ongoing efforts to integrate Compaq into HP. However, Carly Fiorina, HP's chief executive, says the integration is on track and should not be affected. READ MORE >

This week, Microsoft has killed it. READ MORE >

The pSeries 650 is an eight-way server based on the Power4+ chip, which is a rev on the Power4 processor used in the pSeries 630, 670, and 690 machines and the iSeries Model 890. Sources at IBM say the new Power4+ chip is a lot cheaper to make than the Power4, and Big Blue is passing those savings on to pSeries customers with aggressive pricing on the pSeries 650.
