The answer, for those of you hanging on the edge of your seats, is that the 
RPM with the libraries for MySQL is the devel. RPM, it is a separate 
install....thanks Philipp...I never would have gone back to look for 
those...

It is the directory where your mysql libraries are installed,
especially the one where you find yout libmysqlclient.so (or
thelike).
