This is strange. Do you have the topic your article
refers to in place?

mgd_get_topic_articles_all
The function lists all articles under the topic you gave
to it as an argument and also all articles of its children
topics.

Have you tried adding some debugging code there? Like
echoing the article IDs before doing the fetch, etc.
These could possibly help trying to define what is the
problem.
