True, but the core isn't so much going to be doing different
things, just mostly the same things in a different way (which

Midgard or not, what you are going to do is pretty daunting in
itself :)
It would require some wrapper functions, and a little discipline
to get this to work with the current release. It's not certain
that symlinks will show up in the xmas release, as we're still
discussing on how to do them. Implementation and stable release
is going to take a little time.

For the current release, extra data indexed on table/object ID
is your best bet.
