Beg to differ. Direct usage of the ID numbers make the page scripts
less readable IMO, so I usually assign relevant 'global use' topic
numbers and such to globally accessable context variables. To each
his/her own, and 1.2 replication will be thwarted by this technique,
but it's just as valid as direct referral.
