Yes, yes and yes. The main thing is to be aware of MIME types associated
with the images. See Thomas Boutell's GD package, which allows you
to create PNG images dynamically (see http://www.boutell.com/gd/).
Of course if it's just existing images you wish to link to, then they're
only
URLs inside <IMG> tags.
