I have read this 3 times and I'm still not sure what you mean :/

If you mean that you want a totally different style for the root page
("/")
there are at least two easy ways to go about it:

- assign the root page its own style and explicitly assign the 'site
theme'
style to all subpages. This is good for performance but an
administrative hassle.

- split the general style with some logic:

ROOT:
<? if ($midgard->page == id-of-splashpage) { ?><[ROOT-SPLASH]><? } else
{ ?><[ROOT-GENERAL]><? } ?>

Doing a string compare on midgard->uri agains the URI to the splash page
would be more
readable but a integer comparing will be slightly faster.
