Work has been done on PHP4 integration but we do not expect to have a
Midgard
release based on it before PHP4 goes into release.

That would depend on how much change PHP4 introduces. The new PHP engine
should
make it easier to build PHP modules so I expect very little trouble in
the move
once we have retargeted the Midgard core to the 4.0 engine (which will
take
time & effort).
