If AT LOADING time a lib is not found, then either it is not in the
library cache or it is not contained in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This issue has
been discussed here many times and is not at all a special quirk of
midgard.

mod_midgard.so AND midgard's libphp3.so BOTH require libmidgard so. Does

ldd mod_midgard.so

find it? Does

ldconfig -p | grep libmidgard

find it too?

I disagree. I see it as an ambitious GNUish program which uses autoconf
etc. Nothing strange with the installation. Only thing is that it
depends on apche, which is itself a very complex program and the
documentation is not up to date, but I use 1.4b, which is beta.
