I am working on converting our company web site to Midgard as a test of the
Midgard system.
Currently our site has a home page, which uses it's own layout; several
"main" section pages, which have basically the same layout except for the
graphic and text indicating the section; and several "sub" sections, which
are based on the main section they are associated with, but have an
additional navigation bar top and bottom to aid in moving around that
section.
I currently use NetObjects' Fusion in which I have created one style (they
call them MasterBorders) for the home page, one style for each main section,
and one style for each sub section.
Is it possible with Midgard to just have a style for the home page, and one
style for all subscequent pages that uses some PHP logic to determine which
elements to display? For example, for a main section page, determine which
section it is and display the appropriate text and graphic (About, Support,
Service, etc.). For a sub section page, determine the section and display
appropriate text and graphic, plus the top and bottom navigation bars.
Some hint of this seems to be apparent in the "page element", which is
described in the VMUC site thusly:
"did you know that you can easily use page elements as kind of macros that
can be called to use on different pages. To make this even easier, macros
can be made to be inherited..."
Could I then setup one style and several page elements with code that says
something like: "If it's this page, use this page element, if it's that
page, use that page element, if it's another page...." Or am I going about
this the wrong way?
For an idea of how our site is laid out, take a look at it, the URL is in my
signature.
Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
