Dear people at Midgard project,

I am forwarding you the message requesting support recently sent to LINUX.
We are organizing a web conference on trypanosomatids (pathogenics
protozoa for humans, animals and plants). As a initial step, we proposed
to use the CEILIDH software (http://www.lilikoi.com/index_main.html)
previoulsy used in other scientific meeting:

http://www.mcmaster.ca/inabis98/toc0.html

But it appears to cause some installation problems in our server, also it
is not very user-friend. I am emailing you to kindly ask for some
suggestions about LINUX software (Midgard ?) to be used in our web
conference (http://www.dbbm.fiocruz.br/trypnews/events/ticstt.html).
The support from LINUX community would be greatly appreciated and them
would be of course listed in our official site as main sponsors.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Alberto

Subject: Internet Conference - Linux Support (fwd)

Dear people at Linux,

In the recent past, we sent you an email requesting some support for
our Internet Conference. We are sending again the message in the case
it did not reach you.

Kevin Tyler and I are organizing the Third Internet Conference on
Salivarian Trypanosomes and Trypanosomatids (from the 2nd to the 18th of
October 2000). The scope of this conference has been extended this year
to include all pathogenic kinetoplastids affecting animals and humans.
Since LINUX is one of the big companies on the computing and IT world and
we are using information technologies for this event, we decided to
approach you asking for some support for our worldwide conference on
Internet. It will be organized with a low budget when compared with the
traditional scientific meetings, however, it will have a wider audience
since virtually every researchers with Internet conection in the world
will be able to participate. Further, we have already secured the
participation of the world's foremost trypanosomiasis researchers,
ensuring that the conference will attract a great deal of interest and a
strong attendence. The internet format will afford you the opportunity to
link directly from the conference to your own internet site and we can
increase your visibility by allowing you to sponsor individual talks or
sessions and maintain you as our main sponsor.

The official site of the event is:

http://www.dbbm.fiocruz.br/trypnews/events/ticstt.html

Mirror: http://pubweb.nwu.edu/~kmt564/TICSTT.html

Recently we got an agreement with Elsevier (www.elsevier.nl) to publish
the Proceedings, then guaranteed visibility through all major indexing and
abstracting services as well as online full text databases, see the
announcement at:

http://www.elsevier.com/locate/parasitology

Several announcements are also appearing in international scientific
newsletters as: "American Society of Parasitologists Newsletter (2000)
-March Vol. 22 no 1, 4-5". Moreover, we are also discussing with the Joint
IAEA/FAO division possibilities of support for our web initiatives.

Other sponsors for our initiative are FORT DOGDE ANIMAL HEALTH (FDAH) and
NOVARTIS.

Basically, we would be VERY interested to use a LINUX software for our
Internet Conference. We dont know if such software already exist, if not,
LINUX could be our MAIN sponsor helping us with it.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
