I have RH 6.2 too. I also used Midgard 1.4 beta 3.
When I upgraded it to 1.4 beta 4, I got the same error.

After recompilation of midgard lib with sitegroups was enabled (and of course
mod_midgard and midgard-php)

./configure --with-sitegroups

Midgard is now loaded an working.
