This could well be a module loading order problem. If Midgard gets the
chance to check user credentials before pam_auth_module the problem may go
away. Try changing their AddModule order. But if all goes well with the
new mod_midgard implementation (out there for anyone to test guys) this
entire problem will disappear (as will the <Files midgard-root.php3>
section, which is what triggered pam_auth_mod most likely).
