Functionality-wise, 1.4 beta is stable. Not all features have seen
extensive testing though, so it may not be a good idea to install the
beta on a high-volume production machine. OTOH, the more people that
install it the sooner it gets stable. I'm not aware of any
show-stopper bugs in 1.4beta5 (about to be released from CVS).
