Midgard can not do this natively, but there is no problem in using
lib_php together with midgard.

Any features from existing php3 code can be incorporated within a midgard
site.

No, it does not mean that at all. Actually our current midgard_php3 is an
extended version of php 3.0.16, so anything that can be compiled into php
3.0.16 can be compiled into midgard_php3. The 'hack' consists of adding
some 170 functions that are specific to midgard. Our coders have so far
done a great job following the development of the php3 releases. Php4
involves big internal changes (hence the major version increase) and it
is a lot of work to make midgard work with php4. The developers team is
however dedicated to create this port, so that in future php4 support
will be available (so you will be able to use php4's native session
support for your session management). After this initially huge haulover
it will be much easier to keep in pace with php development again. We
even hope not to be needing a changed php core in future.

As for PERL, some work has been done to create perl bindings for midgard
lib, and future plans include presenting a well defined API to midgard
lib, so that eventually bindings to other languages will emerge.

Armand.
