I had a brief look at this, It 'appears' to be very attractive - basically the
editing function is done by displaying the real page then adding some extra
icons to allow you to edit a paragraph etc. - which brings up a popup window
The licencing is not exactly 'GPL' though.. and I could not get a feel for the
amount of developers it was attracting (other than CASH!)..
The preview type editing is very attractive, and I am still trying to ponder
how that could be done with midgard.. -> since the relationship between
articles and displayed pages is very dependant on the code in the host
elements (hence it could be done at the 'host level!').
Stylesheets::
I dont know who is writing the midgard manual/tutorial now, but after working
with a few sites, we came to the conclusion that the 'infered' way of working
with styles was not really that effective.
The inference is that you break down your design into many elements and that
the page is rebuilt on the fly. This means that you can take advantage of
re-using these elements as you create new styles which inherit and overide
existing elements..
This technique makes it very difficult to modify complex pages - lots of
tables etc. - It also makes it almost impossible to take the design into
dreamweaver or other..
So The general alternative was to take a full page, make it the ROOT style,
then just replace the 'real' active elements with styleelements. - eg. a
navigation bar, the <(content)> & in our case the javascript as it seemed to
cause all sorts of problems if it was left in the main stylesheet.
anyway - thats enought thoughts for today :)
