I just looked, and currently you can't, at least not conveniently, but
this is certainly something I'm willing to look into.
Right now, mod_midgard will indeed paste on the trailing '/' for page
access. Bears thought on how we would want to handle that. regarding the
mime-type, I think you have a default set to text/html, and since
mod_midgard OKs the type checker phase I think apache stops the mime
checking phase at that point. I'll have to hit the books to see how
that works exactly.
Alternatively, we could use a subrequest to do a mimetype lookup. No
idea yet what that would impact otherwise.
You can specify the mimetype for blobs or for styles and override the
text/html setting for the pages it applies to, but it's not accessible
from the admin site, nor is the required field in the database. The code
has been there for a long time but I think Jukka was still working on it.
