*** THIS IS A PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY ***

Hi,

As part of the migration process the CVS repository will be moved from
tyr.greywolves.org to cvs.midgard-project.org.
This new location is on a dedicated machine made available to the project
by Aurora s.a.

There is no need make any changes to your local configuration yet. The
final move to the new repository is planned to take place at:
   Saturday 30th September 2000, between 21:00 GMT and 22:00 GMT

At this time, the CVS trees will be syncronized. Please note:

- Any commits checked in before this time will appear at the new location
transparantly.
- Any commits checked in after this time to the old repository will be
lost.
- Any commits checked in to the new repository before the end of the
migration block will be overwritten.
- Any commits checked in to either repository during the named migration
block will produce unpredictable results,
  loss of data can occurr.

SO PLEASE:
- DO NOT CHANGE OVER TO THE NEW REPOSITORY BEFORE THE INDICATED TIME
- DO NOT COMMIT ANYTHING DURING THE INDICATED TIME
- DO NOT COMMIT ANY CHANGES TO THE OLD REPOSITORY AFTER THE INDICATED
TIME.

After the migration, there is no need to do a new checkout, and we ask
you to be friendly to our bandwith and follow the instructions below instead:

- cd to the directory below your checkout dir:
 $ cd /home/armand/BUILD
- make a safety copy, you never know:
 $ cp -R midgard midgard.backup
- cd into your checkout dir:
 $ cd midgard
- execute this one-liner (beware of the linewrap, this should all be on
one line!):
 $ for a in `find . -name Root -depth -print`; do perl -pi -e
's/tyr.greywolves.org/cvs.midgard-project.org/;' $a; done
- repeat the above steps for all other checkout dirs you may have:
 $ cd .. ; cp -R addon addon.backup ; cd backup ; for a in `find . -name
Root -depth -print`; do perl -pi -e
's/tyr.greywolves.org/cvs.midgard-project.org/;' $a; done

You will now be using the new CVS server. Once you have verified that all
works as it should you can delete your backup directories.

CVS users with write access:

I have copied all CVS users over to the new cvs-server, please let me now
if you experience problems logging in. Please change your passwords, so
that we can benefit from the stronger password encryption algorithm that
is available on the new server. It is okay to change it back to your
original password immediately after, if you like.

If you want to use ssh-keys to
automate logins, the server uses openssh, not commercial ssh2 like the
old
server. This means you will have to do: ssh-keygen -f
<your_public_ssh2_key
-X >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2 , and make sure that ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2
has mode 644.

I hope that these instructions will help to ensure a smooth migration.

Armand.
