Hi all,
Today Malcolm Grant and I spotted a Townsend's Solitaire at Spring Farm
field "S-2" on the Mohonk Preserve. This is the 2nd field from the maintenance
barn at Spring Farm. I have posted two photographs (Thanks Jamie Deppen!)See
below for coordinates (Thanks John Thompson!) The bird was in the far corner up
the hill from a large white oak. He/she foraged back and forth in the cedar
edge from about 1:30pm to 5:00pm. It was quite the find as we weren't even
birding around, just out enjoying the nice day and didn't even have binoculars
handy when we discovered it! We were standing under the large oak, looked up,
and there it was! Upon discovery the bird was seen with a small flock of
Eastern Bluebirds.

The UTM coordinates (NAD 1983, Zone 18) of the spot are
North 4628171 m
East 572959 m

Feel free to respond with any questions you may have about the birds location,
etc.

Thanks again to John and Jamie for their help documenting the bird :O)
