This is my second spring living on Cedar Ridge Road, New Paltz. I would like
advice as to what I might plant that will please birds, butterflies and small
mammals.

I have 1 1/3 acres, of which 1/3 or 1/2 acre is wooded, and the woods run into
the woods on the lots next to mine and behind mine. Behind the houses across
the street is the wet stretch of the railtrail and the woods that border it.
My land in on the Route 208 side of CRR.

I would particularly like to reduce the extent of my lawn by planting a ground
cover.

Also: What birds would appreciate bird boxes, and where can I buy them?
Could I give an order to the woodworking class at the NP High School? Do High
Schools still teach woodworking?
