Great Vly WMA and Esopus Bend Nature Preserve

Sixteen participants encountered 55 bird species during today's joint
John Burroughs Natural History Society / Esopus Creek Conservancy
wildlife walk in the Town of Saugerties. Not the anticipated big
fallout, but some nice diversity for the first day of May that included
several first-of-season overnight arrivals.

Returning to my Saugerties yard, I heard my first Baltimore Oriole of
the season, and a pair of Catbirds have taken up residence in their
traditional hedgerow.
