Today Reason Foundation is releasing a major policy study that calls for replacing NASA's failing $90-billion+ SLS system with competitive, fixed-price public-private partnerships similar to NASA's successful Commercial Cargo and Commercial Crew programs. SLS and its major components are years behind schedule and greatly over budget-all on sole-source, cost-plus contracts. They rely on ancient Space Shuttle technology and are nearly thrown away after a single use.
