Seen on LinkedIn: Airbus is set to break a coveted title Boeing has held for decades, as its A320 series is just weeks away from overtaking Boeing's 737 family as the most-delivered commercial airliner in history, according to Cirium.
Boeing made its first 737 delivery in December 1967. Airbus followed more than 20 years later with the A320. As of early August 2025: Airbus has delivered 12,153 A320s. Boeing has delivered 12,175 B737s. In the next few months Airbus should overtake Boeing to make A320 become the best-selling aircraft in aviation history. Fun fact: my first day on the job at Airbus was the day the A320 program was launched: we share the same Airbus start date and anniversary date. TR
