The NNN part of this thread:

The Oxford English Dictionary is a remarkable achievement and a decidedly
serious and scholarly effort. For sundry reasons, I lament the editorial and
business decision to publish it continually online, in lieu of a printed
edition, but this does not deter me from quoting it.

The OED serious editors have over the years, however, introduced some clever
and innovative definitions and historical quotes which sustain these
definitions. The humor is not at the same level as Chambers, but it is there.

Here’s one of my favorites, which the OED offers as an example of the
“contextual repetition” definition of “tautology:

“A group of unruly boys—tautology, I know but these were especially
unruly—broke in.”

and popular mystery author.

Funny that. I looked up the exact same data using the exact same sources to
come up with the same answer, which also prompted the same question.

Are you a pilot by any chance?

Is "exact same" an example of tautology or just bad English? Help me here.

I flew direct from Columbus, Ohio to Malta once. Had an in-flight hydraulic
failure before the Canadian border but carried on. Yet medals were there none.
(It was empty and going into maintenance at MLA anyway? Blue pump low pressure
for those interested, which is the system the RAT uses on the A320 but not on
the A330, which we were in. (Just to link two threads together. Is "link
together" also tautology? I must refresh my grammar).

gcmap.com says the distance from JFK to MLA is 3997 NM. Airbus advertises the
range of the -XLR at 4700 NM. Is that a no-wind range? How will it cope with
the winter time jet stream going westbound?

Malta is booming as a business and tourist destination. There is nothing "iffy"
about a direct flight there, in my mind, and my proof is that Delta is
dedicating B767-300s to the route; it wouldn't surprise me if it becomes
year-round with A321XLR.
