And the brand, for the last 5-10 years of its existence was largely history and nostalgia. In addition, for the Pan Am of old to have a successful rebirth, we’ll also need to return to passengers dressing up to travel and taking only a few long-haul international trips in their lifetime, if that. And finally, many other airlines will have to vanish out of the ‘new’ Pan Am’s markets, for it to be successful (although I suspect that British Airways would be fine with the demise of Virgin…). In short, the world, airline and otherwise, has moved on.
