Hello Mifnet friends, I'm following developments about ATC modernization closely and looking forward to what's ahead. It details one particular part of the current U.S. system - the outdated automation system.
As the post states, there are actually 10 different programs that comprise our ATC automation system. Separate ones for terminal, en route, and oceanic airspace. Several others to manage traffic flows. One for the program that allows pilots and controllers to communicate more efficiently with text instead of voice. If this could all be replaced with one common automation system, it would go a long way to truly modernizing the airspace for all users both present and future.
