It sounds like you're talking about the "wheel to rudder cross tie" and the
other system(can't remember the name) which assists the flying pilot during
asymmetric thrust thrust. It doesn't actually take control away from the pilot.
The pilot can give control to the plane by turning on the auto pilot.Â
Remember, when you lose an engine on the 777 you're down to your last 90,000
lbs of thrust.Â
If Boeing added something since I left it I'm not aware of it.Â
