Just a clean U-turn and nearly 8 hours of flying to land exactly where they started — Atlanta, 1:30 AM Sunday morning.Delta called it an "operational issue" and kept it vague, but here's what industry folks are reading between the lines: when you bypass every closer airport and commit to a 4,000+ mile return, it's usually because your home base has the maintenance crew and parts to fix it right. That old A330-200 (tail number N854NW, originally a Northwest bird from before the 2008 merger) went straight to the hangar for inspection.The kicker? Both directions got canceled.
