Jack, Even free sites like this want to keep a list of people who want to engage with them. It's good business practice, in my opinion. They're offering a variety of newsletters to make it worth our time.
Best practice - in my experience - for having passwords auto-stored is by using Chrome as your browser. Easy. Every time you create a password, a pop-up comes up on the top right corner asking if you want to keep it stored.
