Hi Jack,

Florence, SC is one of countless regional vacation spots across the country
that offer a restful and affordable experience. It often promotes old southern
country charm. Local attractions include an art museum (the collection isn’t to
my taste but will appeal to others), a “War Between the States” museum (better
than most), and the “Atom Bomb Crater,” marking the spot where a stray atom
bomb was accidently dropped in the 1950s (no explosion). The crater is not
particularly accessible but can be viewed from afar. There are bomb relics in
another local museum.

All the best,

Tourism demand outpaces hotel supply in mid-sized cities

A study by Top Fabric reveals that hotel supply in mid-sized US cities is
struggling to keep up with tourism demand, leading to "tourism leakage," where
visitors shorten stays or book outside city centers, impacting local economies.
Key West, Fla., for example, attracts over 500,000 visitors annually but has
only 110 hotels. Other cities facing similar issues include Hot Springs, Ark.,
Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sandusky, Ohio, and Florence, S.C.
