Florence, SC is one of countless regional vacation spots across the country that offer a restful and affordable experience. It often promotes old southern country charm. Local attractions include an art museum (the collection isn’t to my taste but will appeal to others), a “War Between the States” museum (better than most), and the “Atom Bomb Crater,” marking the spot where a stray atom bomb was accidently dropped in the 1950s (no explosion). The crater is not particularly accessible but can be viewed from afar. There are bomb relics in another local museum.
