Hi Nazir, Thanks for sending this email. I would also be very interested in documentation related to : "As a first step for this part of ENDA-Mifos Data Migration project, we had begun by:
1. Global analysis between the main entities of Mifos data model and ENDAs current system data model. 2. A detailed analysis of the data to import, related to the customer entity(either client or group). For each step we have specified the different columns to fill with the imported data and their respective tables. For several data imports, a conversion function has been specified too." Please let me know when the documents are avialable. Thanks Soham _____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Nazir LAJDEL Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2008 4:19 PM To: Developer Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Mifos functional discussions Subject: [Mifos-developer] ENDA -- Mifos deployment project : Data migrationphase start Hi community, -- First of all, apologizes in advance for the length of this email. :-) -- As you know, we are participating actively on deploying Mifos at the MFI ENDA. During the last period, we have been working adding new features into Mifos to support ENDA's requirements. [Here, some Background for the rest of community] Increased Support for Mifos project built by OXIA: Ability to add group membership to individual clients - Complete Ability to remove group membership Complete Ability to define Limiting product combination Ability to adjust multiple loan repayments Complete Ability to disburse loans on non-meeting days - Complete Ability to schedule repayments on non-meeting days Complete Electronic publishing Complete Receipt and voucher printing from account pages Complete Loan schedule independent of meeting schedule Complete Group loan with individual monitoring Complete Cash management/accounting interface Complete Reporting Module (In-Progress: Remaining reports to be developed: four reports). Localizing Mifos into French (In-Progress) On this level of the project, feature added were almost finished. Thus, we have planned to start working next week on ENDA data migration from its current system into Mifos. (We will also be working on the wiki side to specify how to we are preceding: detailed work-plan). Since the information would be helpful for the entire community. I thought it best to share how we can proceed to Data Migration on the mailing list. As a first step for this part of ENDA-Mifos Data Migration project, we had begun by: 1. Global analysis between the main entities of Mifos data model and ENDAs current system data model. 2. A detailed analysis of the data to import, related to the customer entity(either client or group). For each step we have specified the different columns to fill with the imported data and their respective tables. For several data imports, a conversion function has been specified too. The next stage will cover those steps: 1. Data extraction from ENDA actual system 2. Data mapping analysis (between the old system and Mifos) 3. Analysis of the quality of data to correct or to complete 4. Development of tools of manual cleaning of data 5. Development of tools of automatic cleaning of data 6. Automatic data cleaning 7. Manual data cleaning 8. Data cleaning validation 9. Data transformation and transfer preparation using Kettle 2.5.0 10.Data transformation and transfer execution 11.Data migration validation 12.Iteration of the steps 2 to 11 until transfer is validated (20% of total effort) 13.Data migration phase ended The recommend approach provided by Emily (and which will be used) was to: Once our analysis is complete and we are ready to start building and testing the migration scripts, we should pick a version (ideally the most recent version) of Mifos against which to build our migration scripts. And going forward, as we test our scripts, instead of migrating data into newer versions of Mifos (which might have db changes)-- we should always migrate into the original version we targeted. Finally, we can then use the upgrade scripts to upgrade the data into the current version. Thus, we will need to wait until the configuration work is completed before picking a version to build scripts against (that should wrap up in the next 2 weeks or so). That way, we can configure Mifos and then start migrating. Finally, we will publish every day the progress report of the Data Migrations project. Please comment if you need more detail or need further details. With Regards, _______________________________________________ M.
