Hi Saurabh,
Thanks for your comments and questions. I have put some notes inline
which will hopefully help to answer your open questions about the
feature. Please let me know if there's anything else I can clarify.
Thanks so much for your hard work around this feature. I look forward
to seeing it working in Mifos soon :-)
Aliya

Subject: Re: [Mifos-functional] [Mifos-developer] Approach for
moratoriummodule....
Hi Aliya,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
However I still have some doubts for "Lift moratorium".
>> I do not think we need a link to lift moratoriums. A moratorium can
be lifted by changing the end-date of the moratorium.
I have some doubts for this point -
1) If we are not providing separate screen for "Lift Moratorium" then
how the end-user will know that, by changing the end date (on edit
moratorium screen) he is lifting moratorium??
[aw] How about we add some text in on the 'edit' page that indicates
that a moratorium can be lifted by changing the end date? We can change
the current text to say "Complete the fields below. Then click Preview.
Click Cancel to return to View Moratoriums page without submitting
information. To lift the moratorium, change the end date to the date
you want the moratorium lifted"
2) In UI prototype we do have separate screens for "Lift Moratorium".
Do we need to implement them??
[aw] I think it is ok not to implement these screens. The edit
functionality will work satisfactorily for lifting a moratorium so we do
not need a separate screen.
Possible solutions - 1) we can create separate screen for "Lift
Moratorium" as we have in mock UI.
2) we can have same screen for edit as well as "lift moratorium ",
i.e., edit moratorium screen; and if the user is modifying "end date"
which is less than old "end date", then we can provide a message
which says that you are lifting the moratorium, otherwise we will extend
the moratorium.
(Please let me know which one will be better.)
[aw] Those are great suggestions. I think that to simplify things for
you to implement and simplify things for the user, it is easiest if we
just have the 'edit' screen rather than two separate ways of lifting
moratoriums. The text I specified above should help the user to
understand that they can change the end date to lift their moratorium.
>> Since there is no specific lift date any longer, you don't need
validation rules for this. Do you have validation rules for the end
date already specified or is this something you would like me to provide
to you?
1) The only validation which I m using for end date is >> it must be
greater than or equal to start date. Do we need some other validations
for end date also?? If yes, please send me those validations.
[aw] Since the end date is the same as the date that a moratorium is
lifted, I think you should add a validation that it cannot be less than
the current system date. Otherwise, you will have to find a way to
update all of the payment schedules to indicate payments in the past and
mark things in arrears appropriately. For the sake of simplicity for
now, we can have the system only allow the moratorium to be lifted and
end date to be greater than or equal to the current system date. We can
always make an enhancement to this in the future if we find that there
are MFIs who want to lift moratoriums for dates in the past.
2) Can a user enter lift date which is less than "current system
date"?? (I know I m repeating this ques, sorry for that)
[aw] Since lift date is the same as 'end date' above, see my comments
on validations around that.
>> Also, in looking through prior emails around the functional
specification and UI prototype for the moratoriums module, I realized
there was supposed to be some status shown for the
branch/center/group/client indicating that a moratorium has been
applied. The UI prototype was never modified to indicate this. If I
can get a UI prototype around this for you, is this something you can
add to your development work?
You can send the UI prototype; I will incorporate them with my code.
[aw] Thanks Saurabh. I do not have time to mock this up right now, so
you can consider the feature complete without this piece. If I have
time, I will create the prototype and then come back to you to see if
you have time to develop this as a separate project in the future and we
can discuss it further then, if you are available to help us with this.
Does that sound ok?

formoratorium module....
Hi Saurabh,
Sorry for the delayed response. I've reviewed the Moratorium functional
spec and UI and here are some answers to your questions.
Can anyone please help on the issues mentioned below, I m in the middle
of development and it is urgent.
1) Regarding "Lift Date" >> In UI mock-ups "Lift Moratorium" link
is not mentioned. I think it should be at "view moratoriums" screen,
after edit link.
I do not think we need a link to lift moratoriums. A moratorium can be
lifted by changing the end-date of the moratorium.
For "Lift Date" any
specific validations are required or not?? (By validation I mean date
validation for lift date)
For e.g. >> Can a user
enter "lift date" less than system date??
Since there is no specific lift date any longer, you don't need
validation rules for this. Do you have validation rules for the end
date already specified or is this something you would like me to provide
to you?
Also, in looking through prior emails around the functional
specification and UI prototype for the moratoriums module, I realized
there was supposed to be some status shown for the
branch/center/group/client indicating that a moratorium has been
applied. The UI prototype was never modified to indicate this. If I
can get a UI prototype around this for you, is this something you can
add to your development work?
Let me know if this might be possible.
Thanks,
Aliya
