In version 1.1 you will be able to configure the chart of general ledger accounts in an XML file once (before the first deployment of a particular Mifos instance).
Here is one take at a default XML-based chart of accounts, based on what is currently in the trunk SQL code. This is a chance for anyone to provide input. http://pastebin.com/m57b559f5 This is just the default and can be changed prior to deploying Mifos for the first time. Once the application is initialized, the chart of accounts will be written to the database and no changes (or perhaps just minimal changes like adding new non-top-level GL accounts or perhaps changing GL account names or codes) will be allowed.
