Hi all, The documentation certainly could (and will) be improved. In the mean time, I find that the best first step is to go to www.mifos.org and run a search (in the upper right corner).
In this case, entering "loan disbursal date", yields several relevant pages that would help answer your question in a few minutes. In particular look in the functional spec (also in the search results) which has the default values for many fields in mifos. The 'Attributes for Loan Accounts' table on http://www.mifos.org/knowledge/functional-specs/loans/, shows the default for disbursal date is 'next meeting date.'
