Hi Aliya,

I am actually looking at displaying a warning or info message to user, and
not an error message.

For an error message, unless you rectify the problem, it doesn't allow you
to go ahead and displays bulleted error messages in red.

But a warning message is an information to the user.
In my case, when a user tries to create a customer, it informs the user
that there is already a customer in closed state in application, and asks
the the user if he is sure he wants to create this (duplicate) customer ?
If the user goes ahead and submits the application, the desired customer
is created.

Do we have something like this in MIFOS presently ?

Re: [Mifos-functional] [Mifos-developer] Warning/Info Message Format

Hi Amir,

The best way to take a look at the way we handle the UI for error messages
is to try submitting another page on the site without entering data in all
of the required fields. For example I just tried this on the test server
by clicking on the ?Enter collection sheet data? page and then hitting
submit without selecting anything. From this you can see the typical
method for handling error messages ? there is bulleted red text at the top
of the page that shows the error message.

Anyway, let me know if that helps. Hopefully that gives you the
information you need. Perhaps after v1.1, I?ll put up a page with some
guidelines for error messages (for PMs to know the best way to write error
message text to make it useful, and for developers to know how it should
appear consistently across the site).

Thanks,

Aliya

Subject: [Mifos-developer] Warning/Info Message Format

Hi All,

I am working on defect 1520, which allows to create a client who has been
previously closed by the application.

I need to display a warning/info message to user saying the client is
already present in closed state, and whether he wants to go ahead and
still create another client with same name/govt id.
So, this is not an error message, but an information or warning message to
user.

Is there a particular format for displaying warning message ?
I want to make sure the UI of application looks consistent and want to
follow the same format if this type of scenario is happening in the system
elsewhere.

If this is not currently happening in application, may I know what format
should I follow.

Thanks,
