research from Udai:
These are my findings, I am still working on figuring out the savings interest
calculations.
- No interest posting job failure (production secdep 13-june-2010)
- Secdep upgraded from 1.3 to 1.5 on May 14, 2010,

- created_date field is not correct
- run query "select * from savings_activity_details where
account_action_id=11 and amount = 0.000 and created_date < '2009-12-31
00:00:00';"
prod-2010-05-14T17:17:21Z.sql (Mifos 1.3) has zero rows
prod-2010-07-13T19:02:18Z.sql (Mifos 1.5) is having 17K rows
How interest posting works-
There is a bucket for interest posting amount (SavingsBO.interestToBePosted),
"interest calculation batch job"
calculates interest on freq of interest calculation and add it to
interestToBePosted. interestToBePosted is then used by interest posting batch
job which posts this amount.
- For secdep, interest calculation and posting happen after 3 month, so if
"interest calculation job" fail (leaving interest to be posted field as zero)
the interest posting job will post interest zero.
- I guess when John ran the interest posting batch job moving the date of "last
interest posting" on secdep database it might have picked the
interestToBePosted which is calculated for next interest to be posted.
