Blueprint is one of the popular grid-based CSS framework available today. It is
primarily used for page layout. Mifos is already using Blueprint on certain
pages.
Assuming a developer has basic CSS knowledge, the learning curve is minimal and
it is quite easy to use. It is very easy to position elements on a page
precisely, especially with the layout grid turned on (add "showgrid" class to
the "container" div).
The power of Blueprint can be a liability when it comes time to update the
layout if Blueprint positioning classes are used all over the template. One way
to mitigate this risk would be to create widgets or CSS classes that
encapsulate layout logic.
