I really liked
While
the Admin Docs feature of Mifos
, however, while it
makes Mifos more specialist friendly, it doesn't
really contribute
add much value
to
the end
user
friendliness
(
documents are reports generated
as
using
them requires an understanding of the database and reporting tools like
Pentaho
etc
)
We need a document generation system that
is simple enough for
allows
an above average end user to quickly whip up simple Organization specific documents and reports and attach them to various
places
sections
in the
UI
User Interface
.
What
We
would
be cooler
need something on the following lines
1) a rich text editor on the client side, which can be used by a
client
user
to create wysiwyg designs and upload them against various entities ( Ex: An active Client, A Loan Pending disbursal etc)
2) a set of keywords like {{clientName}}, {{loanIdentifier}} which he can add as placeholders in these
designs (
documents
)
3) Java parser at the Server side or a _javascript_ parser at the client side which can intelligently replace these placeholders with appropriate content and generate HTML reports and documents
4) The next step would be to add in advanced controls like loops etc so that we can generate content like pass books with all repayments within a specified period etc
Note: if the random hacks of kindness team does work on this issue, the prerequisite basic document generation module would already be in place. So they would focus on replacing the Pentaho reports with user generated content
