Our Specialists in Burundi have a request to ease the process of adding a new chart of accounts initially having 1) either the ability to export and import via XML the CoA once inputted manually and/or 2) configurable standard XML CoA - like Mifos 2.x
Here's Auguste's direct feedback:
"I found it much easier to setup the chart of account in Mifos X compared to mifos 2.6.x. However if I'm planning the re-use the same chart of accounts for other MFIs, I would have to write it again manually.
Would it be possible to have a functionality whereby one may enter the CoA once, manually, then be able to export it (e.g XML) and then import that XML when setting up another instance of Mifos x, instead of writing down all the accounts manually all over again?"
This also came up for Yanna when she was trying to get her test instance set up with relevant data for her XBRL project.
Apart from exporting an existing CoA, we could also support a standard XML chart of accounts that could be configured and imported in via XML on initial install like with Mifos 2.x.
