Michael,
I have to say I am not in love with the idea of end to end tests driven through the 'community-app' but it does depend:
At present the platform has integrated tests across its improtant areas with some more to come. Thoughtworks HSP have helped us write these. We purposefully dont have a big number of integrated tests, just enough to cover some high value areas. In addition to this we certainly did not want to drive the tests through the UI or what is called now the reference app. (And just as well seen as we chose to write a completely new app using angular JS)
-
Firstly, the question is whos going to wirte this suite of e2e tests? if volunteer based thats great.
-
Secondly, the purpose of the tests? To catch regressions in the software but which one, platform or community-app, if community-app thats up to developers on community app to maintain, deal with the tests and any regressions or false positives that arrive from using a test suite like this.
