I believe this one of the most powerful feature and address many issue of users.
1. For small MFIs it is migration tool.
2. For data entry operator it is bulk upload option. (in this case user does like to switch between application)
3. And also it's xl templates act like offline module. (in this case user does like to switch between application)
I believe usability is the main issue. If it is not intuitive to use, user may not utilize this feature to its complete potential.
For technical advantage you are the most, right person to judge.
Technical advantages are
1. Avoids deploying another application.
2. Import apis are also in sync with newer versions of core apis.
3. Yet another project to maintain on Github
4. Instead of consuming REST api end points, can directly invoke methods. (much faster import)
