Mifos runs equally well on Windows, Mac OS X, and GNU/Linux
distributions like Ubuntu. If you're considering running Mifos on
Ubuntu, you may be daunted with the apparent increase in complexity of
administering a GNU/Linux server.

Ubuntu ships with a number of graphical system administration utilities
that can be useful while or in lieu of learning the command line. For
instance, "users-admin" does the work of command line utilities like
usermod, groupmod, useradd, userdel, groups, passwd, and others.
Connecting from a Windows box using PuTTY (and while running Xming), you
can forward X11 and use "users-admin" on your local desktop.
